Facial results photographed before and after, case by case
A selection of clinical results illustrating the approach of Dr Thomas Colson to plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi. Each case is shown as a single photograph in which the preoperative and postoperative states appear side by side, at the same scale.
What this gallery shows, and what it does not
Every case published on this page is a result of the face: rhinoplasty, Deep Plane Facelift, blepharoplasty, otoplasty, facial reconstruction and injectable treatments of the face. The gallery holds 46 cases and contains nothing else.
Photographs of breast surgery and of body contouring are not published anywhere on this website, in compliance with the UAE MOHAP regulations on patient privacy and modesty. Those results are reviewed with you during a private consultation at SKMC.
The photographs are published with written patient consent, and identifying features are masked on the images themselves. Clinical results vary between patients. The images shown illustrate individual outcomes and do not constitute a guarantee of a similar result.
Photographic results, procedure by procedure
The gallery follows the organisation of the practice: facial aesthetic surgery, facial reconstruction, then non-surgical cosmetic medicine. Photographs are published as supplied — no cropping, no colour correction, no digital retouching, and the same scale for both states within a case.
Rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, blepharoplasty and otoplasty, performed by Dr Thomas Colson. Each case is shown as a single photographic comparison, without retouching.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is planned around facial harmony, ethnicity and nasal breathing. The technique retained for each case — preservation or structural — is decided in consultation and is not stated here.
Deep Plane Facelift
The Deep Plane Facelift repositions the deep facial layer rather than tightening skin. The photographs below show the lower face and neck in profile.
Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery addresses excess upper eyelid skin and lower eyelid fat. In this group the two states are stacked, the preoperative photograph above the postoperative one.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty is performed as a functional and reconstructive correction of prominent ears. Where the patient is a minor, the indication is set with the parents and follows the parental consent pathway at SKMC.
Reconstructive cases restore form and function after a congenital condition or after the resection of a skin cancer. They are documented here for the same educational purpose as the aesthetic cases.
Cleft nose rhinoplasty
Secondary rhinoplasty in a cleft lip and palate sequela addresses nasal asymmetry and airway obstruction. It is a functional and reconstructive indication.
Reconstruction after skin cancer
After a facial skin cancer is resected, the defect is closed with a local flap or a graft. The preoperative photograph shows the lesion; the postoperative photograph shows the reconstructed area.
Non-surgical results obtained with injectable treatments in consultation. Injectable results are not permanent and are reassessed at each follow-up.
Dermal fillers
Hyaluronic acid is placed to restore volume in the tear trough, the nose, the nasolabial folds and the lips. The product and the quantity are decided at consultation and are not stated here.
Related procedures
Indications, techniques and what the consultation assesses are set out on each procedure page. Rhinoplasty and breast surgery have their own dedicated sites, in English and Arabic; the rhinoplasty site covers the indications, techniques and recovery pathway of rhinoplasty in Abu Dhabi.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there no breast or body photographs in this gallery?
This gallery publishes facial results only. Photographs of breast surgery and of body contouring are not published anywhere on this website, in compliance with the UAE MOHAP regulations on patient privacy and modesty. Those results are reviewed with you during a private consultation at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
Are these photographs of patients operated on by Dr Colson?
Yes. Every comparison published on this page documents a patient operated on or treated by Dr Thomas Colson. The photographs are published with written patient consent, and identifying features are masked on the images themselves.
Will my result resemble the results shown here?
Not necessarily. Clinical results vary between patients according to anatomy, skin quality, age and healing. The images shown illustrate individual outcomes and do not constitute a guarantee of a similar result. Your own indication is assessed during consultation at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
Have the photographs been retouched or edited?
No. Each comparison is published on this website as supplied, without cropping, colour correction or digital retouching, and the before and after states are shown at the same scale within a single image.
Why are the eyes covered on some of the photographs?
Identifying features are masked so that a patient cannot be recognised from a published clinical photograph. This is a privacy measure applied to the image before publication and it does not conceal the operated area.
Which procedures are documented in this gallery?
The gallery is organised in three parts: facial aesthetic surgery (rhinoplasty, Deep Plane Facelift, blepharoplasty and otoplasty), facial reconstruction (cleft nose rhinoplasty and reconstruction after skin cancer) and cosmetic medicine (dermal fillers). Procedures without published photographs are described on their own pages.
